There are 2 possible logins you might use at NU Library. Take a look at both options to see which one applies to you.

Database Login - PurplePass

If you use a library database or other resource form off-campus, you'll see this screen:

Your username is your 7-digit student ID number, with the letter S, such as: s1234567
Your password is randomly generated when you activate your PurplePass account, but you can also change it later.

Library Account

If you are placing a hold on an item, or renewing an item, you login at the library catalog, where you'll see this screen:

Your Patron ID is the 14-digit number on the back of your ID card. (It is NOT your student ID number.)
Your PIN is a 4-digit number that you create when you first borrow something from NU Library.

Help logging in:

  • Make sure you are entering the 14-digit number on the back of your ID card, rather than your 7-digit student ID number.
  • If you have forgotten your PIN, click the Forgot Your PIN link. After entering your Patron ID and last name, you'll get a new PIN sent to the email address we have on file for you.
  • If you still have trouble, contact NU Library.
